One more tests COVID-19 positive in Ladakh

Srinagar, March 12, 2020-

One more person has tested positive for the COVID-19 infection in Ladakh taking the number of confirmed coronavirus patients to three in the Union Territory.

Authorities said the son of one of the two confirmed coronavirus patients tested positive on Thursday in the Kargil district of Ladakh.

“The third coronavirus patient also has a travel history to Iran”, an official said.

While Ladakh has three COVID-19 confirmed cases, all with travel history to Iran, in Jammu and Kashmir so far, there has only been one confirmed case of novel coronavirus.

Authorities in J&K have closed all schools, colleges, universities and coaching centres in both the valley and the Jammu province.

Cinema halls and childcare ‘Aganwadi’ centres have also been closed in J&K up to March 31.

People have been advised to avoid travel by public transport and stay away from crowded places.

Meanwhile, authorities have sealed a fake hand sanitizer manufacturing unit in north Kashmir’s Ganderbal district.  (Agency)
