One-day session just to cover up failures; Parminder Dhindsa seeks extension by one week

Chandigarh, August 31, 2021 (Yes Punjab News)
Senior Leader Shiromani Akali Dal (Sanyukt), MLA and former Finance Minister, Sh. Parminder Singh Dhindsa today demanded at least one-week extension of the one-day special session of Vidhan Sabha.

Sh. Dhindsa lauded the Punjab Government for dedicating this session to the 400th birth anniversary of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji but at the same time, he opposed it by terming that the one-day assembly session is being planned just for the sake of holding a special session. He demanded that the Captain government should extend the session by at least one week.

In a statement issued here Sh. Parminder Singh Dhindsa said that this is the last session of the Capt. Amarinder Singh led Congress government and the performance of the government’s tenure should be discussed in detail in this session. Therefore, given the importance of this session, its duration should be extended, he added.

He said that the government’s reluctance to discuss any issue of the state even for a minute in this one-day session showed its irresponsible attitude towards the people of the state.

Sh. Dhindsa said that it should have been discussed in detail in this session for resolving the issues of the farmers who are sitting on the borders of Delhi against the agricultural laws since last one year.

Farmers are being tortured and lathi-charged every single day, he added.

He said that it was the duty of the government to protect the lives and property of the people but unfortunately the plight of the farmers is not visible to the Center as well as the state government.

Sh. Dhindsa said that the Captain government should understand the plight of the farmers and think of giving them maximum relief.

He said that in the last session an open discussion should be held on the performance of the entire tenure of the state government so that the people of Punjab would also be completely aware of the false claims and promises made by the Captain government.

Reminding the Congress of its manifesto, Sh. Dhindsa said that the Congress had made many promises to the people of the state in its manifesto but during the last four and half years where the Chief Minister Capt. Amarinder Singh had only maintained his friendship with the Badal family.

Unfortunately, State Ministers have been fighting for the seat instead of thinking about the wellbeing and welfare of the people, added Sh. Dhindsa.

Sh. Dhindsa said that the people of Punjab would now take full account of the performance of Captain government and would certainly give them a befitting reply in the forthcoming Assembly elections.
