On World Tourism Day eve, PAU Social History Museum gets spot on Tourism Website

As a befitting ode to the one of its kind, PAU Social History Museum, esteemed dignitaries from the government, litterateurs, scientists and nature lovers came together to grace a special event titled,’ Glorifying the Museum of Social History of Punjab’, at PAU on the eve of World Tourism Day , here today.

Shri Sanjeev Arora, Member Parliament, Rajya Sabha was the Chief Guest while PAU Vice Chancellor, Dr Satbir Singh Gosal presided over the event. Padam Shri Surjit Patar was the guest of honour. Among the dignitaries, Commissioner Police, Shri Kaustubhi Sharma graced the occasion.

In his remarks, Shri Arora applauded the efforts of Dr Gosal for inducting the museum in the tourism website. “The university represents the face of Ludhiana, therefore the work and infrastructure needs to be showcased in a way that the people worldwide know its worth”, opined the chief guest. Acknowledging the precious talent pool provided by the university, Shri Arora expressed his desire to provide strategic and financial help for upgradation of the infrastructure.

Dr Gosal called the museum as one of its kind in the state with a need for rejuvenation as the university completes six decades of existence. “It carries the commendable vision of the legendary Dr MS Randhawa who incorporated the cultural effect with a brilliant scientific acumen”, the Vice Chancellor remarked. He thanked Shri Sanjeev Arora for contributing Rs 10 lakh to revamp the museum.

While welcoming the prestigious guests, Dr Sandeep Bains, Dean Postgraduate Studies, PAU said year 2022 is the 300th birth anniversary year of Waris Shah as also the year of travel, beautifully themed as, ‘rethinking tourism’.
