Jalandhar, August 24, 2019 (Yes Punjab News)

Sikh youth organisation the “Sikh Youth of Punjab” has announced to organise various events to mark “World Water Week 2019 which will address the theme “Water for society – Including all” an event by UN-Water. The week is hosted from 25-30 August. Pinnacling the week, SYP will organize a seminar in Kartarpur which would engage the panchayats of the nearby villages.

Notably, The World Water Week is officially planned at Stockholm which will be an annual focal point for the global water issues. It is organized by the Stockholm International Water Institute(SIWI). Experts, practitioners, decision-makers, business innovators and young professionals from a range of sectors and countries come to Stockholm to network, exchange ideas, foster new thinking and develop solutions to the most pressing water-related challenges of today.

Talking about the current situation of floods in Punjab which occur few days ago, Party President Paramjit Singh Mand said “The Bhakhra Beas Management Board was fully responsible for this great lost”. He lashed out at Capt. Amarinder Singh’s remark “The board is not responsible for this flood, but due to heavy rains in the hilly areas, this situation have been created”.

Capt. Amarinder Singh has lost the guts to speak the truth and is seen bowing down to the central government. Organisation concerns that this could also affect a hearing on the Sutlej-Yamuna Link canal on upcoming September, 3.

Even if it was assumed that the rain was heavy in the hills, it is only the board and the weather department that they have not anticipated the situation. It is the responsibility of the central government to compensate for the damage (1700cr) caused by the flood as the BBMB comes under the centre.

Commenting on the central government’s decision not to provide any funds, Mand said the Capt. government should now quit, demanding compensation and should start struggle to get rights of Punjab. According to him instead of begging, Punjab should struggle to get control on the BBMB so that such a situation could not emerge any more.
