Patiala/ Chandigarh, October 10, 2020 (Yes Punjab News)

The National Scheduled Castes Alliance today staged a dharna in front of Patiala bus stand under the Chakka Jam program at the invitation of Sant Samaj Sangharsh Committee and staged a protest against the involvement of Captain Amrinder Singh’s Govt. Cabinet Minister Sadhu Singh Dharamsot in the post-matric scholarship scam.

National Scheduled Castes Alliance President Paramjit Singh Kainth said that until the admission of 3 lakh students under Post Matric Scholarship Scheme and degrees and certificates of 5 lakh students are given immediately and removal of the Minister along with CBI probe into the scams is not announced, the struggle of National Scheduled Castes Alliance in association with Sant Samaj Sangharsh Committee will continue. Mr. Kainth said that the Congress party government led by Capt. Amarinder Singh had ruined the future of Scheduled Caste students.

Under the Post-Matric Scholarship Scheme, students from Scheduled Castes, Backward Classes and Religious Minorities were given a golden opportunity to pursue higher education. He further said that the Punjab government through its managing committee of colleges and universities had exposed the involvement of the governments in multi-crore scams through collusion in scholarships.

Capt. Amrinder’s govt Third Party Audit and Comptroller & Auditors General (CAG) report September 2018 had exposed massive corruption in colleges and universities by using the names of students falsely in terms of admission and retention in papers only of these students whereas in reality some of them never entered the college or university premises.

Kainth said, “even after an investigation by an IAS which found Dharamsot guilty, the Captain Amrinder led Congress govt said that there was no scam by the Minister in this multi-crore corruption scandal involving colleges and universities. Managers and Cabinet Minister Sadhu Singh Dharamsot have no involvement as per the report of the Chief Secretary. Therefore, the perpetrators of these scams have been acquitted.

He further stressed that, “Our struggle will continue till the Congress government led by Capt. Amarinder Singh takes strict action against the culprits of the post-matric scholarship scam. In today’s protest Guru Ravidas Sabha, Bhagwan Valmik and Dr. Ambedkar’s organizations participated in this struggle. Sharanjit Singh, Nab Singh, Khemchand, Jaswinder Singh, Surjan Singh, Jarnail Singh, Charanjit Singh, Nachhatar Singh etc were also present.
