NRI Sabha Polls on March 7 – DC & CP review arrangements

Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Mr. Varinder Kumar Sharma and Commissioner of Police Mr. Gurpreet Singh Bhullar today reviewed the arrangements for conducting the upcoming polls for the NRI Sabha on March 7th in a free, fair and peaceful manner.

The Deputy Commissioner and Commissioner of Police held detailed parleys with the officers of the district civil and Police administration to ensure that the polls was conducted in peaceful atmosphere. They assigned duties to the officers for the smooth conduct of these polls. Both the officers said that the polling for the President of NRI sabha would be held from 9 am to 5 pm on Saturday and the counting of votes would be held immediately after that.

The Deputy Commissioner and Commissioner of Police said that the entire process of voting and counting of votes would be held under CCTV surveillance. They said that only the voters would be allowed to go inside the 12 polling booths constituted inside the office of NRI sabha for this purpose and none of any other person would be allowed entry inside the polling booth. Both the officers said that separate parking arrangements for the media, staff and voters would be made on the polling day.

The Deputy Commissioner and Commissioner of Police said that more than 22000 voters from across the state would be exercising their franchise during the polling day for which elaborate security arrangements would be made adding that special contingents of ladies Police, Anti-Riot Police and others would be deployed along with the civil staff. They said that voting on the basis of ‘One Person, One Vote’ would be followed and no nominee would be allowed to vote. Both the officers reiterated the firm commitment of the district administration to ensure the poll in smooth and hassle free manner.

On the occasion, Additional Deputy Commissioner Mr. Jasbir Singh, Assistant Commissioner of Police Mr. Harsmirat Singh and Mr. Samar Vaneet Singh besides others were also present.
