NRI comes forward for helping needy amidst COVID crisis in Jalandhar

Extending a helping hand to the district administration in its war against Covid 19 pandemic, an Austria based NRI today handed over 20 ton of wheat flour to the Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Mr. Varinder Kumar Sharma and Commissioner of Police Mr. Gurpreet Singh Bhullar, in the presence of MLA Mr. Sushil Kumar Rinku.

The NRI Mr. Pramod Kumar Mehndiratta, who hails from Jalandhar made this immense contribution on the encouragement of MLA Mr. Rinku. Mr. Mehndiratta said that it was a humble effort by him to lend a helping hand to the residents of his home district in the turbulent times. The NRI said that he was concerned about the well being of the residents of the district especially those from needy and underprivileged strata due to which he at behest of Mr. Rinku had made this humble contribution.

Meanwhile, MLA welcomed the initiative of the NRI to help the needy and poor adding that Mr. Mehndiratta has already distributed free ration to more than 1000 families in Basti area. He said that as per the commitment of Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh to ensure food for all the needy people, the district administration led by Deputy Commissioner Mr. Varinder Kumar Sharma and Commissioner of Police Mr. Gurpreet Singh Bhullar were doing a great job. Mr. Rinku said that in this hour of grave crisis the Punjab government and district administration was standing with the people.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Commissioner and Commissioner of Police thanked the NRI for coming forward and making this immense contribution. They also thanked the MLA for personally ensuring a major relief to the needy and underprivileged sections by roping in the philanthropists and NRIs.
