Nodeep Kaur granted bail by Punjab & Haryana High Court

The Delhi Sikh Gurudwara Management Committee (DSGMC) President Mr. Manjinder Singh Sirsa informed that the Punjab and Haryana High Court has granted bail today to labour activist Nodeep Kaur in third case registered against her and she is likely to come out of jail by evening today.

In a statement released here today, Mr. Sirsa disclosed that third case registered against here was listed for hearing before bench of Jutice Avneesh Jhingan of Honourable Punjab and Haryana High Court. He said that the High Court granted her bail in this case FIR No. 25/21 which was registered u/s 148,149, 186, 353, 307 and 379B IPC on January 12, 2021.

He said that Nodeep Kaur had earlier got bail in two cases from Sessions court, Sonepat. These two were FIR No 649 u/s 148, 149 and 384 IPC registered on December 28, 2020 and FIR No 26 u/s 148, 149, 384 and 506 IPC registered on January 12, 2021.

He said that now after getting bail in third case she will come out of Karnal jail and the DSGMC will ensure her release by completing required formalities including giving sureties in form of Fixed Deposits (FDs) in third case and its team members are already present in Sonepat court complex for executing the same. The DSGMC had already given sureties in two cases earlier in which bail was granted by Sonepat court.

Mr Sirsa it is a matter of great relief for Nodeep Kaur who is behind bars since January 12 only because she spoke for human rights and labour rights. He said that police in an attempt to suppress her voice registered cases against her under sections like 307 and she was sent to jail along with her like minded friend.

He thanked senior Advocate RS Cheema, Advocate Arshdeep Singh Cheema who fought Pro-Bono case and other members of the legal team of the DSGMC including Chairman Jagdeep Singh Kahlon , Advocate Harinder Singh Bains, Pawandeep singh and all legal team members.

He said that this is big victory for the DSGMC and also assured families of those farmers who have been arrested by Delhi Police and are lodged in Tihar Jail, that their bail applications are also being pursued by the DSGMC legal team and he is hopeful that they all will be out on bail by next week.

He said that it is duty of Khalsa given by Guru Sahiban to fight against any oppression an injustice committed against anybody and ensure that nobody suffers at the hands of power that be and the DSGMC will continue to perform its duty with blessings of Sangat.

The DSGMC General Secretary Mr. Harmeet Singh Kalka also thanked the legal team and all those helped in ensuring getting bail for Nodeep Kaur and arrested farmers. He said that DSGMC will not only ensure their bail alone but will fight these cases till their logical conclusions until these persons are given clean chit.
