New Astroturf Hockey Ground in Jalandhar – Players thank MLA Bawa Henry

The announcement of construction of a new Astroturf hockey field at the local Burton Park has created a wave of joy among all national, international and Olympic hockey players.

A decision has been taken after a meeting held between MLA Bawa Hennery, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation and CEO Smart City Project Karnesh Sharma, Mayor Jagdish Raja, ITC Sports advisors and sports experts to build a new Astroturf hockey field on the site adjacent to the existing Surjit Hockey Astroturf Stadium at Burlton Park. A detailed Meeting was held yesterday to develop the entire Burlton Park in a sports hub under Smart City Project.

Former captain of Indian hockey team Olympian Pargat Singh, Olympian Surinder Singh Sodhi, Olympian Harpreet Singh Mander, Olympian Colonel Balbir Singh, Olympian Rajinder Singh, Olympian Gundeep Singh, Olympian Olympian. , Sports Promoter Surinder Singh Bhapa, Secretary, Surjit Hockey Society Iqbal Singh Sandhu, President, Hockey Punjab Nitin Kohli, International Hockey Players Lakhwinder Pal Singh Khaira, Amrik Singh Pawar, Ram Pratap, Gurwinder Singh Bathla, Ranbir Singh Tutt while thanking MLA Bawa Henry for accepting the long standing demand of additional astroturf of all hockey players of Jalandhar, jointly said that with the introduction of this new hockey Astroturf where the emerging hockey players would get better results with the experience of astroturf, the Jalandhar city would now be able to host international level competitions.

They further said that the due to the constructive thinking of Bawa Henry, MLA, the construction of Sports Hub in Jalandhar will not only build the infrastructure but also create a healthy society of our future which will definitely make Jalandhar Sports Hub to function as a sports nursery.

Under the Smart City project, the sports hub will features hockey astroturf, cricket, football, skating, weightlifting, judo, yoga, boxing, lawn tennis, basketball, table tennis along with cycle and jogging tracks.
