Facing a tough opposition to his elevation as Punjab Congress Chief by Congress stalwarts including Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh, former Punjab Cabinet Minister Navjot Singh Sidhu continues to meet Congress leaders in the State.
Sidhu Sunday met Nirmal Singh Shutrana at his Patiala residence where he had met several Congress MLAs on Saturday. After meeting Shutrana he headed towards Jalalpur where he met Congress MLA Madan Lal Jalalpur at his residence. Punjab Minister Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, MLA Darshan Singh Brar and Barindermeet Singh Pahra were also present. Even as an official announcement regarding his appointment as President of the Pradesh Congress is still awaited, Laddoos were distributed at Jalalpur’s residence ‘on Sidhu’s elevation’ as PPCC president.
The move Sidhu started Saturday with meeting Partap Singh Bajwa, Shamsher Singh Dulo, Sunil Kumar Jakhar continued with a meeting with two Punjab Minister Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa and Gurpreet Singh Kangar.
It may be recalled that the leaders Sidhu met in Delhi, Panchkula, Chandigarh, and Patiala included former PPCC presidents and Rajya Sabha Members Partap Singh Bajwa and Shamsher Singh Dulo and Punjab Congress Chief Sunil Kumar Jakhar.
Apart from above leaders, Sidhu went to the official residences of two Punjab Ministers Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa and Gurpreet Singh Kangar. He also met Lal Singh, who is the Chairman of Punjab Mandi Board.
Till now Sidhu has met MLAs Amarinder Singh Raja Warring, Pargat Singh, Barindermeet Singh Pahra, Devinder Singh Ghubaya, Kulbir Singh Zira, Darshan Singh Brar, Surjit Singh Dhiman, Satkaur Kaur, Pritam Singh Kotbhai, Ajit Inder Singh Mofar, Amit Vij, Nirmal Singh Shutrana and Shri Madan Lal Jalalpur.
Sidhu also met former MP Sher Singh Ghubaya. It is believed that Sidhu may continue with his move to meet more and more Congress leaders.
