Ms. Manni Arora, CJM/Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, Patiala, has emphasized the primary objective of Lok Adalats, which is to settle disputes amicably through compromise. This approach aims to save time and money for the parties involved and reduce personal enmity between them.
It is important to note that all kinds of cases, even those at the pre-litigative stage, can be brought before Lok Adalats for amicable settlement, except for non-compoundable criminal cases.
Ms. Arora further told that when a case is settled in a Lok Adalat, the award becomes final, and no appeal lies against it. Additionally, any court fees paid by the parties are refunded, and the parties to the dispute receive a speedy resolution of their dispute based on mutually agreed terms. This creates a win-win situation for both parties involved.
As such, an appeal is made to Public, to put forward their pending disputes before upcoming Lok Adalats, so as to save their valuable time and hard earned money. For this purpose, every litigant willing for settlement through Lok Adalat can request the Presiding Officer of the Court where his case is pending. Even in compoundable Criminal Cases, party can move an application for putting up the matter in Lok Adalat.
In case of Pre-litigative matter, request can be made to the Ld. Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, Patiala. Any detailed information can be made available from website www.pulsa.gov.in or from NALSA helpline no. 15100 & District Legal Services Authority, Patiala contact No. 0175-2306500.
