NAPA chapter in UK condoles deaths of Sikh pilgrims in Pakistan

US Based North American Punjabi Association (NAPA) today expressed grief over the tragic demise of Sikh pilgrims in a bus-train collision in Pakistan’s Punjab. While expressing condolence on this tragedy Balraj Kaur Chairperson of NAPA chapter in the UK said that we are pained by the tragic demise of Sikh pilgrims in Pakistan.

Our thoughts are with their families and friends in this hour of grief. We pray that those pilgrims injured recover at the earliest. Kaur said that as per media reports at least 20 Sikh pilgrims were killed when the passenger vehicle in which they were traveling was hit by a Karachi to Lahore train- Shah Hussain Express- in Sheikhupura district of West Punjab in Pakistan.

The accident took place at a train crossing without a barrier and all the wounded have been shifted to a nearby hospital. She further said that as per the reports coming from West Punjab all the dead bodies have been shifted to the hospital and rescue operation has been completed.

Balraj said that this is a matter of satisfaction that the wounded were given first aid by locals at the time of the accident. This is very unfortunate that all the dead are said to be from one family and were on their way home from Nankana Sahib Birth Place first Sikh Guru Nanak Dev Jee while eight other Sikhs were hurt.

She further said that Punjabi Diaspora around the Globe expressed grief and deepest sympathy with the victims.
