Amritsar, January 19, 2021 (Yes Punjab News)
On the occasion of the Prakash Gurpurab (birth anniversary) of tenth Sikh Guru, Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji, the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) on Tuesday organized a Nagar Kirtan with Khalsai Jaho-Jalal (awe-inspiring appearance as per Khalsa traditions) from Sri Akal Takht Sahib.

Under the guidance of Sri Guru Granth Sahib, Giani Jagtar Singh, additional head granthi of Sachkhand Sri Harmandir Sahib inaugurated the Nagar Kirtan after offering ardas (prayer) led by Panj Piaras (five beloved ones).

Bands and Gatka parties were present during the Nagar Kirtan and Gurbani Kirtan was sung in praise of Guru Sahib by the jathas (batches). The path of Nagar Kirtan was decorated with beautiful lights and the sangat also showed immense devotion by serving tea, water and fruits. Meanwhile, the sangat showered flowers and paid obeisance.

Former jathedar Giani Gurbachan Singh, Giani Balwinder Singh, additional head granthi of Sri Akal Takht Sahib Bhai Malkit Singh, SGPC chief secretary advocate Harjinder Singh, and members of SGPC, officials and other prominent personalities were also present on this occasion. Apart from this, a large sangat (congregation) joined in the chanting of Satnam Waheguru during the Nagar Kirtan.

Bibi Jagir Kaur congratulate sangat on prakash gurpurab of Tenth Guru

SGPC Bibi Jagir Kaur greeted the entire sangat on the birth anniversary of the tenth Guru, Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji.

Bibi Jagir Kaur said, “The entire life of Dasam Patshah Ji is guidance for humanity. Guru Sahib was a revolutionary leader who instilled in mankind the spirit and courage to fight against oppression. We should apply the teachings of Guru Sahib in our lives and always strive for the betterment of humanity.”

Bibi Jagir Kaur called upon the sangat to eradicate the evils prevailing in the present times and appealed them to adopt Bani and Bana (Gurbani and traditional Sikh attire or dress).
