The Department of Mathematics at Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University (MRSPTU), Bathinda, celebrated National Mathematics Day today dedicated to honor the legacy of Srinivasa Ramanujan, the renowned mathematician known for his extraordinary contributions to number theory and infinite series.
The event featured an expert talk aimed at inspiring students and emphasizing the significance of mathematics.
Dr. Deep Singh, Associate Professor in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Central University of Punjab, Bathinda, delivered the talk.
He introduced students to the fundamentals of number theory and its application in cryptographic protocols, explaining how secure communication can be achieved over insecure channels. He also highlighted Ramanujan’s groundbreaking contributions, demonstrating how his work continues to influence modern mathematics.
Dr. Singh motivated students by sharing how Ramanujan, despite numerous challenges, made remarkable mathematical discoveries at a young age.
MRSPTU Vice-Chancellor, Prof. (Dr.) Sandeep Kansal, congratulated the department for successfully organizing the celebration of National Mathematics Day. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Co-ordinator Dr. Mukesh.
