To enthral the residents with the immersive experience of the first SARAS Mela of the district, the district Administration has started the preparations today.
Deputy Commissioner Aashika Jain while taking preparatory meeting of various Nodal Officers deputed for the SARAS Mela asked them to gear up for the gala event to
make it a memorable and successful event.
The Deputy Commissioner added that the event has been scheduled from October 16 to 27 at Sector 88 ground, Mohali.
Deputy Commissioner Jain said that to make the event successful with the involvement of the residents, the awareness campaign would be run through outdoor media as well as social media.
She said that a nominal fee should be charged for entering the event while the entrants would have to pay separately for food items at stalls and other purchases made by them.
The Deputy Commissioner further said that the administration has chalked out the setting up of over 300 stalls supporting rural producers/artisans for showcasing a diverse range of products that can benefit the residents.
These stalls would also serve traditional food from across the country as well as the artistic and other goods prepared by the artisans.
Besides, renowned Bollywood and Punjabi singers and Artists would perform daily in the evening to mesmerize the audience. Similarly, the administration is also considering the variety of cultural items to be included in the event for entertainment purposes.
The prominent officers who attended the meeting included Commissioner MC Navjot Kaur, ADCs Viraj S Tidke, Sonam Chaudhary and Damanjit Singh Mann, Estate Officer GMADA Harbans Singh, SDMs Deepankar Garg and Himanshu Gupta, DDPO Baljinder Singh Grewal, Chief Engineer Local Bodies Naresh Batta, RTO Pardeep Singh Dhillon and BDPO Satwant Singh Randhawa.
