Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab senior leader and Leader of Opposition (LoP) Harpal Singh Cheema has written a letter to Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh, demanding a time-bound CBI probe into the sensational Moga sex scandal.
Harpal Singh Cheema on Sunday said that the sex scandal registered at the Nihal Singh Wala police station in Moga had brought back chilling memories of the sensational Moga sex scandal dating back to the years 2003 and 2007, adding that the modus operandi adopted in the current sex scandal was similar to that adopted in the sex scandals that happened in the years 2003 and 2007, involving the police brass and political big wigs.
In his letter to chief minister, Cheema said that when tall leaders of the ruling party and their close associates and, of course, the police brass were involved in such heinous crimes, police investigation hardly made any sense, so the case should be got proved by the CBI so that those behind the well organised racket could be brought to justice, sooner than later.
The LoP also sought immediate transfer of Moga SSP, alleging that since he (the SSP) was a kin of Congress heavy weight and Khadoor Sahib MP Jasveer Singh Dimpa, a free and fair probe could not be expected of him, and hence the case be handed over to the CBI.
Cheema alleged that a total of five suspects booked in the sensational sex scandal, including two dismissed assistant sub-inspectors (ASIs), were just the skeletons of the big fish involved in the racket were still out of the long hand of the law.
The AAP leader said that if the Moga District Youth Congress President allegedly involving in a serious case of physical abuse and blackmailing of a woman and the setting up the SIT to hush up the case were any indications, the involvement of the political masters and the police dispensation could not be ruled out, as the registration of an FIR in such serious cases was mandatory as per the guidelines of the apex court.
Harpal Singh Cheema said the alleged involvement of police brass and politicians in the sex scandals dating back to 2003 and 2007, could not be ruled out in the current Moga sex scandal, which had left nothing to speculation that both the Akali Dal and the Congress ruling the state for longer spells of time were behind the spike in such anti-social activity in the state.
