Modi’s provocative, irresponsible statements can create hurdles in Kartarpur Corridor project: Jakhar

Amritsar, Chandigarh, April 29, 2019 (Yes Punjab News)

PPCC president and Congress candidate for Gurdaspur constituency along with Punjab minister Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa today took stock of the ongoing development work for construction of Kartarpur Sahib Corridor and performed “Ardas” for welfare of humanity.

On the occasion, Jakhar said that Guru Nanak Dev ji spent last decade of his life at Kartarpur Sahib and exhorted people to follow the principle of “kirat karo”.

He expressed gratitude to the great Guru for giving him golden opportunity in his life to take up development work here as a humble member of Indian Parliament. While paying obeisance, Jakhar sought blessings to serve the people for next five years also.

Jakhar said that the Almighty had fulfilled decades-long wish of millions of followers to have “darshan didar” of Gurdwara Darbar Sahib in Kartarpur. But he had apprehensions also as Narendra Modi was indulging in irresponsible and inflammatory statements to gain few political points. Modi was escalating tension with neighboring nation by talking about nuclear power. Such utterances by the Prime Minister may create hurdles in achieving the target of getting corridor functional by November this year on the auspicious occasion of 550th Prakash Utsav, he feared. People of Punjab who had horrible experience of division in 1947 and decade-long turmoil due to militancy later; have made up their mind to reject BJP out rightly, Jakhar said.

He said that India had not emerged as nuclear weapons in past few years on Modi-rule, but making childish reference to such weapons during the ensuing polls was unprecedented, unwarranted, and unethical which may hit global reputation of the nation. People not only in the border belt but in the interiors also were becoming panicky. They logically feel India needs a strong and competent government capable of protecting the borders but maintaining harmony also. BJP led government was trying to divert attention of people from its failures by raising provocative issues. “This can put a question mark on our efforts to fulfill long awaited dreams of having open “darshan didar” of holy shrines. Time has come up to beat the divisive designs of BJP that preferred to spread communal hatred, venom at the cost of development, he said.

Punjab Minister for Cooperatives Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa said Modi-mantra promotes “vinash” instead of “vikas”. The PM has wasted five years on traveling abroad to benefit his corporate friends but did nothing for common people. He looks hell bent on retaining power for next five years and to achieve the target he may thrust Punjab into war like situation.

Jakhar and Randhawa along with other leaders of the region walked up to the corridor site where devotees were performing mass prayer.
