Modi’s decision to address from separate stage during Kartarpur Corridor inauguration against federal traditions: Jakhar

Chandigarh, November 2, 2019 (Yes Punjab News)
Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee President Mr. Sunil Jakhar recalled that during the SAD regime in the state, series of desecration incidents of the Guru Granth Sahib Ji had hurt feelings of millions of people across the world and now leadership of the same party was defying the ideology of Guru Nanak Dev ji by setting different stages at Sultanpur on the occasion of 550th Prakash Purab.

He said that the leaders of the Akali Dal were in a hurry to claim credit but they have forgotten what Guru Nanak Dev ji had taught us. He said that the Punjab Government had made all possible efforts under the leadership of Chief Minister Capt. Amarinder Singh to set a joint stage to commemorate 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev ji, but the Akali Dal top brass was adamant to disallow this due to false ego.

The SAD leaders had weakened the Shiromani Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee (SGPC), the leading body of the Sikhs, for their vested political interests.

Mr. Jakhar said that when India and Pakistan had taken historic initiative to open the corridor to facilitate “khulley darshan didar” of Gurdwara Darbar Sahib in Kartarpur, Akali Dal has not broken the boundaries in the heart for the grand event.

“We need to move forward to melt the ice between India and Pakistan on this occasion but our friends in SAD were dividing the society on this religious event, he said.

Referring to the Centre’s delay in issuing the necessary clearance to the ministers and MLAs of Punjab to go to Pakistan, Mr Jakhar said that BJP was also following the ideology of SAD by adopting such cheap tactics. “What they want to prove with such acts is beyond the comprehension of people, he added.

PPCC president Mr. Jakhar also condemned Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s decision to address people from a different stage on the opening of Kartarpur Corridor, saying that it was contrary to the basic ideology of the federal structure of the country. He said that the Prime Minister is the PM of the whole country and not of any particular party.

“Whenever a Prime Minister goes on official visit to any state, arrangements are made by the state government and that has been the norm. Breaking such traditions, the Prime Minister is violating the rights of the states of the country, he should review the decision, Jakhar said.
