Modi wants farmers to surrender their pride to his favorite Corporates for Rs.500: Jaiveer Shergill

New Delhi, December 25, 2020 (Yes Punjab News)
Reacting strongly to the transfer of funds under Prime Minister Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana, the Congress today said PM Narendra Modi wants farmers to surrender their pride to his favorite Corporates for Rs.500.

Congress national spokesperson, Jaiveer Shergill, today said the Prime Minister was boasting of a figure of Rs.18,000-crore but the fact is that a meager amount of Rs.2000 per family was being transferred to 9-crore farmers of the country. “Taking 4 as average family size, an amount of Rs.2000 per family actually means Rs.500 per person and the Prime Minister wants to snatch farmers’ livelihood guaranteed by MSP income.

Shergill said ‘Kisan Samman’ cannot be bought by transferring Rs.500 in the account of farmers’ accounts. “By transferring this amount to the accounts of farmers, the BJP cannot get a license to snatch the livelihood of farmers and endanger their future. This tokenism will not hide BJP’s crony capitalism,”, he said.

Commenting on the Modi government’s mega-event today to mislead the people on black farm laws, Shergill said, every speech, including that of the Prime Minister, should have started by rendering an apology and expressing regret over the death of 23+ protesting farmers, which everyone in the government and the BJP carefully chose to ignore.

The Congress leader said after stopping the ‘Ration’ of Kisan, the PM & BJP brigade are shedding crocodile tears by giving speeches laced with lies. The PM, his team of ministers, and the BJP should understand that by doling out Rs.500 person to the farmers, PM can’t make farmers forget the insult inflicted on farmers by using lathis, water cannons, tear-gas shells, and whatnot.

Shergill said, at this juncture, farmers don’t need hollow speeches and sermons but they are longing for solid solutions which mean nothing less than the withdrawal of black farm laws.

“Instead of indulging in monologues and orchestrated rallies, BJP leadership should put a stage at Singhu, Tikri, and other protest sites to address the farmers,” he said.
