Modi govt forcing saffron agenda on young minds: Bhagwant Mann

Chandigarh, July 11, 2020 (Yes Punjab News)

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) state president and Member of Parliament (MP) Bhagwant Mann has strongly opposed the move of the Union Ministry for Human Resource Development to remove some key subjects from the syllabus of 9th and 12th classes through the CBSE, terming it a part of the BJP government’s saffron agenda being forced upon the young minds, the future vanguards of the country.

In a statement issued from party headquarters in Chandigarh on Saturday, Bhagwant Mann said that the BJP was hell bent on implementing its saffron agenda, which would be extremely detrimental to the Indian Constitution.

Bhagwant Mann said that the subjects which had been removed from the school syllabus under citing Corona epidemic had always been the eyesore of the Nagpur headquarters of the RSS.

Mann informed that the 30 per cent cut of the key subjects from the classes 9th to 12th syllabus included those which projected India as a country known for its unity in diversity, multi-lingual character and cultural diversity and taught the values of amity and mutual brotherhood and bonhomie and made students, the future vanguards of the country, responsible citizen.

The AAP MP said that the issues of import in a democracy like ours, such as the rights, the diversity, secularism, federalism, peace and harmony and science and technology had never been embraced by the BJP, since it had been treading a path under one nation-one color (saffron) agenda, out to break the country economically, socially, religiously and constitutionally as well, besides dividing it on communal lines.

Bhagwant Mann alleged that the Modi government, which had been running the country as per the RSS’s guidelines and forcing its decisions upon the people of the country, saying the subjects which were core to the country’s federal character, secularism, the need for local governments and their development, citizenship, among others which were removed from the school curriculum.

Similarly, the key subjects relating to our ties with the neighboring countries, our democratic rights, our democratic diversity, religion and race, forests and wildlife, farmers, partition and peasants’ revolts that took place in the country, significant reference to our long-drawn struggle for freedom too had been taken out of the curriculum.

Mann threatened that it was imperative to unite and stop the BJP, which was hell bent on destroying the very fabric of the Indian Constitution, a scared document drafted by the legendary Baba Bhim Rao Ambedkar. He reiterated that the Aam Aadmi Party would raise its voice against the government’s move to fiddle with the federal structure, from the streets to the Parliament, by creating awareness among all sections of the society, including the intelligentsia.
