Mobile Boat Teams evacuate sick old lady from flood ravaged Jalandhar village

The village level mobile teams on boats constituted by the district administration to help the distressed people in flood ravaged villages of the district provided a much needed healing touch to an old lady by evacuating her from a dera in village Gidderpindi.

Divulging the details, the Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Mr. Varinder Kumar Sharma said that Sub Divisional Magistrate Ms. Charumita got a distressed call that an old Mrs. Swaran Kaur was having a number of age related problems including High Blood Pressure and needs immediate medical help. Subsequently, he said that a team led by Naib Tehsildar Ms. Swapandeep Kaur was sent for helping the elderly lady at a dera in village Gidderpindi. Mr. Sharma said that the team of doctors accompanying the Naib Tehsildar provided medical treatment to the lady after diagnosis.

The Deputy Commissioner further said that the Naib Tehsildar persuaded the lady and her family that she needs to be evacuated at some safe place so that she could live a healthy life. He said that as the lady and her family agreed the team brought her back at Gidderpindi base camp from where she went to her relative. Complimenting Sub Divisional Magistrate, Naib Tehsildar and the entire rescue team including the NDRF officials, Mr. Sharma said that these teams were doing real service of the humanity.

The Deputy Commissioner said that the basic purpose of starting the mobile boats was to ensure that people in the marooned villages get the facilities required for them at their doorsteps. He said that these boats were serving the people by providing them food, water, medical facilities and fodder for their animals through the boats.
