MLA Derabassi, S. Kuljit Singh Randhawa today visited the Ghaggar Bridge on the Ambala-Chandigarh Highway to review the water level situation. He appealed to residents to maintain peace, assuring that the administration is fully prepared to deal with any eventuality.
At the floodgates of Banur Weir near village Chhat, S. Randhawa, accompanied by officials, inspected the present situation and directed that minimum possible water be released in order to safeguard the nearby villages.
Continuing his on-ground monitoring for the second consecutive day, the MLA also reviewed the Tiwana embankment of Ghaggar River along with senior officers. He assured the residents that the local administration is on high alert and fully equipped to tackle any situation. He appealed to the people to stay away from the riverbanks and extend full cooperation with the authorities to ensure safety.
Later, S. Randhawa visited village Khajur Mandi Sadhapur near Ghaggar and interacted with farmers. He assured them that girdawari (crop loss assessment) would be conducted and due compensation would be provided by the government. He also urged farmers and residents to stand in cooperation with the administration during this period.
Later on, MLA Randhawa took stock of water flow in Ghaggar at Mubarkapur Causeway and distributed relief material to the nearby huts.
