MLA Kuljit Singh Randhawa Launches Rs 190.63 Crore Power Infrastructure Projects in Dera Bassi and Lalru

As part of the State Government’s ambitious “Roshan Punjab – Freedom from Power Cuts” campaign launched under the leadership of Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann, MLA Kuljit Singh Randhawa today Kickstarted power infrastructure upgradation works worth Rs 190.63 crore in Dera Bassi and Lalru ULBs.

These projects are part of the Punjab Government’s massive Rs 5000 crore initiative aimed at strengthening and modernizing the power supply network across the state.

MLA Randhawa said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and the guidance of Power Minister Mr. Sanjeev Arora, extensive upgradation works are being executed by the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) to improve the reliability and quality of power supply.

He informed that under PSPCL’s Lalru Division, covering the urban local bodies of Dera Bassi and Lalru, projects worth Rs 112 crore are being carried out to enhance electricity infrastructure through 290 different works.

These include the commissioning of 13 new 11 kV feeders to de-load existing ones at a cost of Rs 5 crore, installation of 149 new transformers worth Rs 3 crore, and augmentation of 119 existing transformers at a cost of Rs 4 crore.

Further, four new 66 kV substations are being set up at a cost of Rs 77 crore, while another Rs 17 crore is being spent on enhancing the capacity of power transformers at four existing grids. This will help relieve the existing grids from overloading and significantly boost the system’s supply capacity.

He added that under the Revised Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS), projects worth Rs 78.63 crore have been approved for the installation of new 11 kV feeders, new transformers, and improvement of existing power lines to ensure uninterrupted and stable power supply to consumers.

Additionally, works worth Rs 6 crore are being undertaken to enhance the capacity of the 220 kV Saidpura to 66 kV Mubarikpur line, which will improve voltage stability and power quality in the region.

MLA Randhawa emphasized that after completion, these projects will substantially improve power reliability, quality, and consumer satisfaction in the urban areas of Dera Bassi and Lalru under the Lalru Division. All works are being executed under strict departmental supervision and within the prescribed timelines.

Executive Engineer Mandeep Kumar and members of the local party team were also present on the occasion.
