As a part of a comprehensive campaign to improve link roads across the state initiated by Punjab Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann, Derabassi MLA S. Kuljit Singh Randhawa today laid the foundation stone for the reconstruction and widening of the 5.45 km long road from Amalala to Rajpura–Chandigarh Road at Karala. The existing 10-feet-wide road will be upgraded to 18 feet, providing greater convenience and safety for commuters.
The project, costing Rs 3 crore 89 lakh 19 thousand, will be executed by the Punjab State Mandi Board.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA Randhawa said that under the visionary leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Punjab Government is undertaking major infrastructure development works in every constituency. He added that in Mohali district, several projects are underway to improve roads, drainage systems, healthcare, and education infrastructure.
Randhawa stated that the new road would not only facilitate smooth travel for residents but also boost connectivity and economic activity between Dera Bassi and Rajpura. He directed the officials to ensure high-quality construction and complete the project within the stipulated timeframe.
The MLA further mentioned that efforts are being made on a war footing to upgrade the entire road network in Derabassi constituency, which will significantly improve road safety and commuting convenience for the public.
A large number of panchayat representatives, departmental officers, and local residents were present during the foundation stone ceremony.
