Minorities Commission member visits abandoned mosques in Jalandhar, directs authorities to provide funds, amenities

Member Punjab State Commission for Minorities Mr. Lal Hussain today visited abandoned mosques in villages Randhawa Masanda and Bakhu Nangal village and directed the authorities concerned to ensure the restoration of these places.

He also visited a cemetery situated at the village Rasulpur Wariaha (Faridpur) and Bakhu Nangal where he directed the officials of the Punjab Wakaf Board to provide all basic amenities to the graveyard including a boundary wall.

The Commission Member during his interaction with the representatives of the Muslim community said that places of cemeteries should have basic facilities so that people do not face any kind of problem in completing their rituals. Likewise, concerted efforts would be made for the restoration of old abandoned mosques in the state.

Mr. Hussain said that the commission was duty-bound to protect the interests of the minorities in the district. He reiterated that the commission would make all efforts to provide suitable land for the burial ground required by the communities.

On the occasion, District Welfare Officer Lakhwinder Singh, Punjab President of Minorities People’s Welfare Yuva Dal Dalmir Hussain, Mohabbat Mehrban, Virsa Singh Hans, Farman Dhariwal were present with the commission.
