Mesmerizing interpretation of ‘Nanakayan Mahan Kaav’ organized at KMV College, Surjit Patar presides over the event

Dedicated to 550th Parkash Purab of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, the Punjab Kala Parishad on Wednesday organized a mesmerizing event based on ‘Nanakayan Mahankaav’- a epic written by noted poet Professor Mohan Singh on life of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji.

The event organized at the local KMV College was inaugurated by Punjab Kala Parishad Chairman and noted litterateur Mr. Surjit Patar, who also interpreted the epic for the audience. Sufi Singer Mr. Dev Dilbar regaled the audiences by giving his mesmerizing voice for ‘Nanakayan’ epic, which was considered a master piece in the Punjabi poetry.

The word by word interpretation of the poem by Mr. Patar ensured better understanding of this literary masterpiece.

Speaking on the occasion Mr. Patar said that the epic showcases the life and philosophy of Sri Guru Nanak Dev ji in an apt manner. He said that it was a matter of great pride and satisfaction to be here amongst all the dignitaries for this mega event. Mr. Pattar said that such functions were a humble and befitting tribute to Sri Guru Nanak Dev ji.

Mr. Patar said that Sri Guru Nanak Dev ji was a true social reformer and a great spiritual ambassador who preached the gospels of love, compassion, mutual tolerance, universal brotherhood and oneness of mankind through his life and philosophy.

He said that Sri GuruNanak Dev Ji bitterly opposed the maladies of hypocrisy, falsehood, pretensions and caste-prejudices by envisioning a casteless society free from rituals and superstitions. Mr. Patar further said that Sri Guru Nanak Dev ji made tireless efforts for bringing social equality through the concept of ‘Sangat and Pangat’ thereby eradicating the evil of casteism from the society.

Earlier , the Principal of College Dr. Atima Sharma Diwedi and noted journalist Mr. Lakhwinder Singh Johal welcomed Mr. Pattar at the college.
