Mansa Police bust Gang of vehicle thieves; 12 vehicles, 10 Mobile Phones seized

Shri Surendra Lamba, IPS, SSP, Mansa during press conference told that, a Gang of vehicle thieves was active in Mansa District since some time. Modus oprendi of the Gang was to target the vehicles of businessmen who were on recovery tour in the evening in city areas, after hitting them, snatched the hand bags containing cash and Bahi Khatas alongwith their vehicles.

Giving brief detail, SSP said that on 18.2.21, the Gang members snatched cash bag and Bahi Khatas from Jiwan Kumar in the area of Pawan Readymade Street and one Dharam Chand Backside Gaushala Road Mansa.

Similar incident was also occured with Suneel Kumar of Mansa on 19.2.2021. There were continuous incidents of theft of vehicles especially Motor Cycles in the City Mansa. District Police taking serious notice of these incidents, a team headed by Shri Rakesh Kumar SP (PBI), Mansa alongwith Shri Gurmeet Singh DSP, Mansa and Inspector Jagdish Kumar SHO City 2 Mansa was constituted to take prompt action in this regard.

Under the supervision and guidelines of the above team, Police of City 2 Mansa laid Nakabandi and rounded up Prabhjot Singh s/o Amarjeet Singh resident of Mansa and recovered a Bolero Camper which was stolen from Mansa and on the initial interrogation of this accused, two more vehicles were recovered – one Zen car, which was stolen from City area of Sangrur and one Alto car which was stolen from Rohtak (Haryana).

On 21.2.21, 2nd team of Police PS City 2 Mansa headed by ASI Darshan Singh arrested 3 accused namely Surinder Kumar @ Raju son of Mohinder Singh resident of Mansa, Shivam Kumar @ Gabbar son of Subhash Kumar r/o Mansa and Rinku Panchal s/o Prahlad resident of Sunderpur Rohtak (Haryana) near Link Road (Near N.M.Govt. College), Mansa on whose initial interrogation 9 vehicles (8 Motorcycles and one Scooter) were recovered which were stolen from the area of City Mansa and Barnala. 10 Mobile phones were also recovered from these accused which were snatched from the passengers travelling in night trains.

The arms used during the incidents of 18 and 19 Feb., alongwith Bahi Khatas and stolen mobile phones have also been recovered and the accused are on 3 days Police remand. The accused Kulwinder Singh @ Kaalu son of Mithu Singh resident of Ward No. 4 Mansa ran away at the time of police raid who will the arrested shortly.

All these accused have criminal background and many criminal cases have already been registered against them in different Police Stations. 8 other untraced cases have been traced so for, further investigation is going on.
