Manpreet Badal ‘behind’ ‘deal’ of doling Bathinda Thermal land for peanuts: Baljinder Kaur, Rupinder Ruby

Bathinda, October 16, 2020 (Yes Punjab News)

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab leaders Prof. Baljinder Kaur and Rupinder Kaur Ruby (Both MLAs) on Friday accused the Raja Amarinder Singh-led state of doling out the Bathinda Thermal land worth crores of rupees to some patronised corporate houses for peanuts after shutting it down, adding the Punjab Finance Minister Manpreet Badal was allegedly involved in the dubious deal.

Disclosing this here on Friday, Prof Baljinder Kaur and Rupinder Kaur Ruby said that the Aam Aadmi Party would stage a protest march against the open ‘loot’ of the thermal plant land by certain corporate houses in collusion with their political masters, on October 17 at 11 am.

The protest march would start from the local Fire Brigade Chowk to the office of Finance Minister Manpreet Badal to lay siege to his office, to escalate pressure on chief minister Amarinder Singh to revisit and roll back on his government’s decision to dispose off the land worth crores.

The AAP leaders said that the Raja Amarinder Singh government was openly doling out the land to corporate houses in the name of developing a massive ‘Drug Park’ there, adding that the land was being leased out to them for 33 years at a cost of Re 1, which might be extended up to 99 years. The AAP leaders added that the corporate houses would also be provided power at Rs 2 per unit and water Re 1 per litre, which reflected the intentions of Congress government in the saddle.

The AAP legislators blamed the Finance Minister and asked “How the thermal plant land was transferred in the name of PUDA without the statutory approval of the Board of Directors and that too without any agreement between the two?

Rupinder Kaur RubyThe total cost of the project is Rs 1,878 crore, with the Central Government contributing Rs.1000 crore and Rs.878 crore by the state government.” The AAP leaders demanded that the government should immediately restart the Bathinda Thermal and instead of doling out the land worth crores of rupees to private players.

Prof Baljinder Kur and Rupinder Kaur Ruby warned the anti-people Amarinder Singh government if it failed to desist from the decision, the Aadmi Party would be left with no choice but to raise its pitch against the anti-Punjab decision and of the government across the entire state.
