Under the special anti-corruption drive “Operation Peechha Karo”, the State Vigilance & Anti-Corruption Bureau, Haryana carried out a major action on 26.12.2025 and arrested a total of 07 accused. Out of these, 06 were absconding/wanted accused arrested under Operation “Peechha Karo”, while 1 officer and one Junior Engineer were caught red-handed while accepting bribe.
Arrests Made Under Operation “Peechha Karo”
Under this special अभियान, intensive action was taken against accused involved in corruption, abuse of official position, forgery, illegal gratification and tampering with government records across various ranges of the State. As part of this drive, 3 accused were arrested from Gurugram Range, 1 from Rohtak Range, 1 from Karnal Range and 1 from Panchkula Range.
BDPO, Rewari Caught Red-Handed Taking Bribe of ₹35,000
The State Vigilance & Anti-Corruption Bureau, Gurugram, acting on a complaint, arrested Block Development and Panchayat Officer (BDPO), Rewari, Saurabh Upadhyay, while accepting a bribe of ₹35,000 in cash. A case has been registered against the accused at the Vigilance & Anti-Corruption Bureau, Gurugram.
Details of the Complaint
The complainant stated that he runs a firm dealing in building material and had executed development works in various Gram Panchayats of District Rewari. For passing the bills related to these works, the accused BDPO demanded a bribe of ₹75,000. Later, the deal was settled at ₹35,000. After verification of the complaint, the Vigilance Bureau laid a trap and caught the accused red-handed while accepting the bribe.
Junior Engineer Caught Red-Handed Taking ₹20,000 Bribe — Strict Action by ACB
The State Vigilance & Anti-Corruption Bureau (SV&ACB), Hisar, took strict action against corruption and arrested Girish Kumar, Junior Engineer posted in the office of District Town Planner (DTP), Hisar, while accepting a bribe of ₹20,000.
The accused had demanded the bribe from the complainant in lieu of not demolishing his shop. A case in this regard has been registered at Police Station SV&ACB, Hisar. Further investigation is in progress.
Action Taken in Gurugram Range
Under Operation “Peechha Karo”, three absconding accused were arrested by the Vigilance Bureau, Gurugram:
Krishan Kumar, then Junior Engineer, Municipal Council Narnaul – accused of taking bribe for uploading ID and facilitating registration of agricultural land.
Anil Kumar, then Assistant Food & Safety Officer, Gurugram – accused of exerting pressure and taking commission.
Lalit Kumar, salesman – accused of manipulating seed distribution records by tampering with the number of bags distributed to farmers.
Karnal Range
In Karnal Range, Police Sub-Inspector Vijender Singh was arrested on serious charges of demanding a bribe of ₹10,000 in lieu of closing a complaint. After receiving the complaint, the Vigilance Bureau conducted verification, which confirmed the allegations. Subsequently, the accused was arrested as per due procedure. The case pertains to misuse of official position to illegally extract money by intimidating a citizen.
Rohtak Range
In Rohtak Range, absconding accused Jarnail Singh was arrested in a major and organized land fraud case. The case relates to illegally getting around 12 acres of land transferred in his name through forged wills and fabricated documents. Investigation has revealed the involvement of multiple persons in this organized fraud. So far, a total of 11 accused have been arrested in this case, effectively dismantling the fraud network.
Panchkula Range
In Panchkula Range, absconding accused Om Narayan Gupta, then Sub-Divisional Engineer, Public Works Department (Buildings & Roads), Kalka, was arrested under Operation “Peechha Karo”. The accused had been evading arrest for a long time and the investigation against him was pending.
Based on technical surveillance and confidential inputs, the Vigilance Bureau traced his location and apprehended him. Further interrogation and legal proceedings are underway as per law.

The identity of the complainant is kept completely confidential.
