Majithia trashes Jakhar’s claim of zero deficit budget, quotes CAG report that debt will reach 3-lakh crore mark

Chandigarh, March 5, 2021 (Yes Punjab News)
Former minister Bikram Singh Majithia today exposed the Congress government as well as its Punjab Congress President Sunil Jakhar by pointing out how the CAG report had clearly stated in its latest report that the debt of Punjab would reach the Rs three lakh crore mark.

Talking to newsmen outside the Vidhan Sabha, Mr Bikram Majithia said the CAG report had also exposed the lies of the Punjab Congress President who had claimed yesterday that the forthcoming budget being presented on March 8 would be a zero deficit budget. “CAG reports do not lie”, he said adding the Punjab Congress President was in the habit of diverting attention from the failures of his government with such deceitful lies.

Stating that the CAG report pointed to bad fiscal management by the Congress government, Mr Majithia said other indicators by independent agencies were also ominous. “It has also come out that Punjab’s per capita income has been recorded below the national average for the first time in the history of the State due to lack of any effort to take up infrastructure works”.

Mr Majtihia also asked the Punjab Congress President not to resort to the same drama before every budget session. He said Sunil Jakhar was in the habit of harping on the Rs 31,000 crore food procurement legacy bill of the Punjab government which was the result of difference in calculation for transport and labour charges during food grain procurement for more than twenty years.

Asking Jakhar not to try to befool the people again and again, the SAD leader said “your government has been collecting taxes for four years. If you have not been able to use the taxes for public good that is your failure.

You cannot put the blame for the Rs 31,000 crore legacy account on the SAD in Punjab and admit that it is dispute issue over transport and labour rates during talks with the central government. This only exposes your political bankruptcy”.
