The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) today asked chief minister Capt Amarinder Singh to sack Cooperation minister Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa and order registration of a case against him for being party to the conspiracy to cheat the ‘annadata’ through the Rs 4,000 crore inter-State Seed scam.
It also demanded the chief minister order a girdwari to ascertain the loss incurred by farmers by sowing spurious varieties of PR-128 and PR-129 paddy seeds in six lakh acres so that they could be adequately compensated for the same.
Addressing a press conference here, former minister Bikram Singh Majithia said a case under Section 120 (b) should be registered against Sukhjinder Randhawa for showing a fake bill during a press conference in the State Secretariat to cover up the crimes of his close associate and spurious seed producer Lucky Dhillon.
He said blatant defence of Lucky, who is the proprietor of Karnal Agri Seeds, delayed the spurious seed producers arrest and gave him time to disperse the spurious seed in his possession. “As per my information as many of twelve trailers of spurious seed were taken out of Karnal Seed’s unit in Dera Baba Nanak”.
Telling the chief minister that his cabinet colleague had decided to stand with the spurious seed producer rather than the farmers, Mr Majithia said Sukhjinder Randhawa had lost all moral right to remain in office.

He said action should be initiated against Randhawa for not only giving shelter to the prime accused but also for becoming a party to the entire scam. He said no action was taken in the matter even now it would become clear that the Congress party and its central leadership including Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi did not have any concern for the farmers of the country.
Mr Majithia also shared the FIR registered against Lucky Dhillon in Haryana where he had made a fictitious office of Karnal Seeds in Karnal. He said the Haryana police after receiving a complaint in this regard had probed the issue and found out that one of Lucky’s associates had got a false rent agreement done of an address whose owner had shifted to Dubai twenty years back.
He said stringent cases under relevant sections of the law had been registered in this regard in Haryana unlike the Punjab police which had registered a case under sections which are easily bailable.
The SAD leader also revealed another facet of the Seed scam by disclosing how another close associate of Sukhjinder Randhawa, who was recently made Chairman of the Dera Baba Nanak Market Committee, had worked as a salesman for the scamsters. He showed how Hardeep Singh of Talwandi Goraya gave newspaper interviews stating that PR-129 was very beneficial to farmers, even before the seed was given approval for commercial production.
Mr Majithia said the SAD had also informed Union agriculture minister N S Tomar about the scam and urged for an independent inquiry because the scamsters had distributed the spurious seed in neighbouring States also. He said this was absolutely needed because the Punjab Police was dragging its feet in the case and had still not taken action against the real king pin in the case.
