Amritsar, January 9, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)
The Amritsar Police have arrested Davinder Singh Verka alias Hardeep Singh, a close associate of former Punjab Minister and senior Shiromani Akali Dal leader Bikram Singh Majithia, for allegedly obstructing a Vigilance Bureau team during a raid conducted at Majithia’s residence in June 2025.
According to the police, Verka, who had reportedly been working at the Akali leader’s residence for several years, is accused of hindering government officials from discharging their official duties during the Vigilance Bureau Punjab raid.
The Vigilance action, carried out on June 25, 2025, had led to the arrest of Bikram Singh Majithia in a case registered during the tenure of the previous Congress government headed by Charanjit Singh Channi. The original FIR named six accused, including Majithia’s personal assistant.
Davinder Singh Verka was produced before a local court on Friday, which remanded him to two days of police custody for further interrogation.
Earlier, the police had also arrested Harpreet Singh, an alleged aide and businessman, in connection with suspected financial transactions linked to Majithia’s company, Saraya Industries. Investigations into the matter are ongoing, officials said.
