A day after 20 students from two schools in Ludhiana tested positive for the coronavirus, Deputy Commissioner Varinder Kumar Sharma on Wednesday took stock of the sampling drive in Government Senior Secondary School Cemetery road and directed the health department to further augment the testing drive of the schools’ students and ensure 1500 samples daily.

He further asked the officials to instantly upload the data of the positive cases in the Cova app which would further help the rapid response teams (RRT) in collecting the samples of their family members and others at the earliest hence would assist the administration to curb the spread of the virus.

Further, he ordered the District Education Officers (DEOs) to ensure only fully vaccinated staff teaches the students in the schools besides masking and social distancing to be strictly observed by all.

Sharma also said that the only way to flatten the curve and breaking the transmission chain is to do more and more testing, treating and isolating the patients at the earliest.

He said that the administration is fully geared up and prepared to tackle any situation arising from the Covid-19 pandemic and said the district administration would leave no stone unturned to serve people in these trying situations.
