All students and staff members at Lovely Professional University (LPU), especially those of the School of Fashion, are recollecting 70th Miss Universe Harnaaz Sandhu’s gracious ramp-walks and encouraging speech made at the campus stage during her two visits.
Miss Universe Harnaaz Sandhu was at LPU Campus as Miss India (Punjab) in October2019 for judging ‘Campus Princess’ event; and, as Miss Diva in early February 2020 for selecting Ms & Mr at ‘Youth Vibe-2020’ mega event of LPU. On her first visit at LPU Harnaaz had judged 150 + participants from across the zone.
Forwarding best wishes to Ms Sandhu , LPU Chancellor Mr Ashok Mittal shared: “It is a moment of pride as after a wait of 21 years Miss Universe title is won by an Indian once again. We further feel elated that our students got the chance to walk the ramp along with Ms Sandhu, and also got to hear the sheer grit of Ms Sandhu. Her winning the title is a testimony that India has one of the best combinations of beauty and brain. On behalf of all at LPU, we congratulate Harnaaz Sandhu for her hard work in winning the coveted title and making us and the country proud of her glittering global win.”
Nazia, a third-year student of LPU Fashion School, while recollecting memories of Ms Sandhu’s visit to campus mentioned: “Sandhu had a spark in her eyes. She was so friendly to all of us and shared her experiences from the modelling world.” Other students shared that Harnaaz then also guided students to be always true self; identify passion and weakness alike; and, don’t let weaknesses dwarf passion. Everything is possible if only one believes in oneself. Overpower flaws and avail opportunities as these come.
Miss Universe Andrea Meza of Mexico crowned her successor, Harnaaz Sandhu, after the glorious declaration at the Miss Universe 2021 competition. Harnaaz has won such a crown for India third time after two respective winnings of Sushmita Sen and Lara Dutta. Harnaaz Sandhu worked hard with all perseverance and dedication and thus grabbed the prestigious title of Miss Universe 2021. She passionately pursued her professional career as a model and actor and made the country proud.
Highlighting, the ‘Campus Princess’ initiative at LPU empowers promising students by opening up scopes to exploration and experimentation in Indian beauty pageantry. Its auditions reach top institutions of the country including IITs, AIIMS, NITs, LPU and more to find the best talent. Similarly, India’s largest global open fest ‘Youth Vibe’ at LPU is an international platform for students to compete in a spectrum of events for nurturing their skills and talent amid mega festivity.
