In a statement issued here today, Sukhpal Singh Khaira MLA Bholath and former Leader of Opposition urged Capt. Amarinder Singh to reconsider and review his erroneous decision to appoint chairman of market committees of Bholath as well as Dhilwan.
He said although Rashpal Singh was a very close aide of his and family but his appointment as chairman Market Committee Bholath is not based on merit keeping in view the socia-political importance of the constituency.
He said the Lubana community forms a majority part of the villages falling under the Bholath market committee, therefore it would have been much more judicious to appoint an eminent leader from the community to head the Market Committee Bholath.
Khaira said similarly Capt. Amarinder Singh has committed a grave blunder while appointing the Chairman of Market Committee Dhilwan too, as Sharanjit Singh Pada has been a hard core Akali and a very close aide of Bibi Jagir Kaur.
Khaira said by appointing him as chairman of Dhilwan Market Committee Capt. Amarinder Singh has done great injustice to dedicated and sincere Congress leaders of Dhilwan block.
Khaira alleged that the appointment of Sharanjit Singh Padda as Chairman Dhilwan was made at the behest of Bibi Jagir Kaur by tainted Rana Gurjit Singh MLA Kapurthala, as they maintain very close political relations with each other which is a known fact.
Khaira alleged that the sole aim of tainted leaders like Rana Gurjit Singh was to weaken the Congress in Bholath and give direct benefit to Bibi Jagir Kaur who is his arch rival.
Khaira said keeping in view the social balance of Bholath constituency he wants Capt. Amarinder Singh to review both his decisions of Market Committee Bholath as well as Market Committee Dhilwan, which are not only erroneous but also discriminatory in nature and appoint deserving leaders of the backward class of Lubana community for Bholath Market Committee and a dedicated Congress leader for Dhilwan Market Committee.
