Kay Pee ‘neutralised’ – Amarinder in Jalandhar on Monday, to accompany Chaudhary for filing nomination

Jalandhar, April 21, 2019 (Yes Punjab News)

Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh will be in Jalandhar on Monday 22nd of April.

The Chief Minister will accompany Congress’ LS Candidate from Jalandhar Santokh Singh Chaudhary for filing of his nomination papers.

The Chief Minister and Congress’ LS Candidate from Jalandhar Santokh Singh Chaudhary will later address a public gathering at PUDA Ground opposite District Administrative Complex, Jalandhar.

It has been learnt that Capt Amarinder is likely to visit former MP and former PPCC president Mohinder Singh Kay Pee who had earlier expressed his strong resentment against the allotment of ticket to Santokh Singh Chaudhary.

However, the matter stands sorted now and Kay Pee’s anger has subsided.

It remains to be seen whether KayPee joins the Chief Minister and other leaders while Chaudhary files his nomination papers on Monday. Sources however said, Chief Minister would be visiting KayPee’s residence before accompanying Chaudhary and there is every likelihood that KayPee would be asked to accompany Chaudhary so that a message of unity among Congress leadership and cadres goes to the electorate.

Mohinder Singh KayPee confirmed that he had assured his party high command that he would stand by the party and the matter was over now. It is understood that he has been given ‘some assurance’ by the party high command which has asked him to support the candidature of Chaudhary Santokh Singh.

It is also pertinent to mention here that Jalandhar West MLA Sushil Rinku who was also eager to get ticket for parliament election had some differences with Santokh Singh Chaudhary which were ironed out with the intervention of senior Congress leader and former Cabinet Minister Rana Gurjit Singh.

Chaudhary who won the 2014 parliamentary elections defeating Pawan Kumar Tinu of the SAD, is this time pitched against SAD-BJP candidate and former Lok Sabha Deputy Speaker Charanjit Singh Atwal, BSP candidate Balwinder Kumar who is backed by PDA and AAP candidate Justice Zora Singh.
