The Punjab Government today appointed former Chief Secretary Karan Avtar Singh as Chairman of Punjab Water Regulation and Development Authority.
Karan Avtar Singh was recently removed as Chief Secretary and Vini Mahajan, IAS was installed as Chief Secretary.
Besides Mr Karan Avtar Singh, Sh. Sushil Gupta and Sh. Surinder Singh Kukal have been appointed as members of the Authority.
This was in the air that Karan Avtar Singh would be appointed Chairman of Punjab Water Regulation and Dev elopement Authority after his superannuation on August 31 but recently, in a surprise move, the government decided to replace him with Vini Mahajan. He was appointed Special Chief Secretary but it was reported that he had gone on leave for the remaining period of his service.
