Kapurthala Police solve surveyor’s murder case, Arrest two members of criminal gang

The Kapurthala Police have succeeded in solving the murder of surveyor by arresting two members of the criminal gang that shot dead him in village Ibban this week.

The arrested accused has been identified as Sukhwinder Singh Sukha (25) and Lovepreet Singh of village Ibban while one of their associates Harkrishan Singh alias Monu from Dhapai village is still at large.

Addressing a press conference, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Harkamalpreet Singh Khakh said that on November 20, the police received information that some assailants opened fires on a surveyor Balwinder Singh of Kot Dharam Chand village, TarnTaran who was working as a surveyor with Land Mark Infra Company in village Ibban and snatched his Bolero (PB 46-AG-1777).

He said that victim along with his team was carrying out survey for the land to be acquired under Delhi-Katra Expressway.

SSP said that immediately the police teams were rushed to the crime spot and started the probe.

Khakh said that the criminals asked surveyor Balwinder Singh to give the keys of car. On his refusal, the accused pumped three bullets into victim and snatched his white Bolero and fled away from the spot.

The SSP said that in this regard a case was registered against the criminals under section 302, 379-B, 34 IPC at Sadar Police Station Kapurthala on the statement of eyewitness Gurvinder Singh, brother of deceased Balwinder Singh.

The SSP said that police teams were formed under the supervision of DSP Kapurthala Surinder Singh and SHO Sadar Insp Gurdial Singh to nab the criminals and following tip-off, police team arrested accused Sukhwinder Singh Sukha from bus stand Raajapur when he was trying to escape from the police party and Lovepreet Singh who have been evading arrest from Machla, Police Station Dinanagar, Gurdaspur.

During his preliminary interrogation, Sukhwinder Singh and Lovepreet Singh confessed to the crime and told the police that on November 20, at around 10 am, Monu called them to go Bhetan village to settle score with some boys who had damaged his car. Both went to Monu’s house, parked their bike there and headed towards Nathuchal Road in Monu’s car.

Monu handed them a pistol in the car. When they reached Dhandla village bridge, an accident occurred with a Zen car which was moving ahead of them, Monu started fighting with the driver of that car but as people started gathering there then we left from there”, accused revealed.

He further revealed that we left that car after it developed mechanical fault and later, we snatched a motorcycle from a boy near Gautam Sweets shop on gunpoint. On the motorcycle reached at village Ibban where Balwinder was standing near a Bolero. Monu asked him to give the keys of car but Balwinder refused following which he opened the fires on him and snatched car. After this incident, He and Monu went to Amritsar in Bolero and Lovepreet took the snatched motorcycle with him.

The SSP said that due to high alert, the trio separated from each other. Harkishan alias Monu took the Bolero and weapons with him and sukhwinder took the laptop and lovepreet took the snatched motorcycle.

SSP said police team have recovered that laptop from the spot as disclosed by the accused.

He said that the arrested accused would be produced before the local magistrate and police remand would be sought to arrest other gang members and investigate the case.
