Solving a murder case in less than 24-hours, the district police have arrested the accused in few hours of the crime besides seizing crime weapon.
The arrested accused has been identified as Sandeep Kumar alias Babba (age 23 yrs) resident of village Bohani Kapurthala.
In a press release, Kapurthala Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Harkamalpreet Singh Khakh said that on Tuesday evening Rawalpindi police had received information about the murder of Gurdeep Singh son of Kishan Singh who runs a shop Prince General Store at Adda Bohani.
Acting swiftly, Police teams under the supervision of SP Phagwara and DSP Phagwara reached the spot and started investigation by registering the case under sections 302 of IPC.
The SSP said that a case has been registered on the statement of victim’s son Darshan Singh, who told police that on Tuesday evening when he went to give tea to his father, he saw Sandeep Kumar Babba coming out of the shop. He was looking very panicky and fled away from there.
“When he entered the shop, he saw that his father was lying unconscious on the ground with an injury on his forehead. He immediately called up his neighbour and took his father to Johal Hospital Jalandhar where doctors declared him brought dead”, he added.
The SSP said that the police teams under the leadership of SHO Rawalpindi started raids on the locations of the accused and the police team reached the Panshata turn at village Sahni and arrested the accused and recovered the rod used for the murder from his possession.
During the preliminary interrogation of the accused confessed the crime and revealed that he killed Gurdeep because he was not lending money to him.
The SSP said that the accused would be produced in the local courts and would be taken on remand for completing the investigation.
