Kapurthala Police bust Gang of Robbers and Weapon Suppliers, arrest four

In one of major success, Kapurthala police have busted a gang of robbers by arresting four members and seizing cache of arms and ammunition smuggled from Madhya Pradesh.

The accused were hatching conspiracy to loot money from petrol pumps and farmers.

The six gang members have been identified as Yadwinder Singh (21) alias Yaad of village Lakh Varian, Harsimranjeet Singh (26) alias Simar of village Chakpatti Bal Bahadur, Gurjit Singh (29) of village Chodriwal Mand, Tajinder Singh (26) alias Romy of village Kaimpura, Lakhwinder Singh alias Boss of village Bahui in Kapurthala and Sweety Singh of village Balvadi (Madhya Pradesh).

Harkamal Preet Singh Khakh AIGDisclosing further about gang, SSP Kapurthala Harkamalpreet Singh Khakh said that the robbers’ gang was active in the district for the past some time and today its four members were arrested with 10 pistols, one modified rifle .315 bore, six magazines and 11 live cartridges from their possession.

The SSP further said a party of Fattu Dhinga police station got tip-off that some criminals armed with deadly weapons involved in the incidents of robbery and loot gathered in the village Mand Begowal area on the banks of the Beas river and planning a strike in the district.

SSP said that acting swiftly under the supervision of Deputy Superintendent of Police Sultanpur Lodhi Sarwan Singh Bal, different police teams were formed and moved to arrest the criminals and confiscate weapons.

He said that police teams immediately cordoned off the area and found that five of the gang members were gathered in a pit and conspiring having lethal weapons in their possession.

The SSP said that when the police team raided the spot, the criminals tried to flee from the spot after spotting the police, but the alerted teams overpowered the criminals and arrested four of them.

SSP Khakh said that one police team seized a modified rifle .315 bore, three live cartridges and three pistols 7.65 bore from the possession of Yadvinder Singh Yadu, while another police team seized one pistol 32 bore with two live cartridges and two pistols of 7.65 bore from the possession of Harsimranjit Singh Simar..

Similarly, the third police team seized a pistol of .315 bore and a pistol of 7.65 bore from the possession of Gurjit Singh and the fourth team seized one pistol .315 bore along with 2live cartridges and one pistol of 7.62 bore, he added.

During the preliminary investigation the arrested accused revealed that the gang was headed by Harsimranjit Singh Simar and they all were gathered to loot cash from petrol pump and farmers carrying cash .

SSP said that the arrested criminals also revealed that all the weapons were procured from Madhya Pradesh from their gang associate Sweety Singh son of Khyaal Singh resident of Vill. Umrati, PO Balwadi, Sendwan , Barwani Madhya Pradesh who was also booked .

SSP said that cases under relevant sections of Indian Penal Code and Arms act have been registered against them in police station Fattu Dhinga.

He added that police would produce them before the Magistrate and would seek remand to complete further investigation and arrest the remaining members of the gang.
