Joint Operation launched to catch drug smugglers: SSP Vivek Sheel Soni

Under the directions of Sh. Vivek Sheel Soni, IPS, SSP, SAS Nagar and Sh. Amandeep Singh Brar, SP (Investigation) SAS Nagar a special drive against criminals was launched in kharar area wherein a snatcher named Harmandeep Singh s/o Bhupinder Singh r/o Shivalik City Kharar was nabbed. FIR No. 205 dated 15.10.2022 u/s 379B IPC was registered at PS Sdr Kharar against the accused Harmandeep Singh and Sukhi r/o Khunimajra.

The above said criminal was a proclaimed offender and was active snatcher in the area from past two years. Total 13 snatched mobile phones were recovered from him. On further disclosuer recovery of 5 gm Heroin was affected and Amritpal and Navraj Navi of village Santemajra were nominated in the said FIR.

On the above disclosure, a joint operation was launched along with the health department in village Santemajra in the hours to nab the drug peddlers and to rehabilitate the drug addicts. A joint team of police and health department was formed by Sh. Vivek Sheel Soni, IPS, SSP, SAS Nagar under the supervision of Sh. Gursher Singh Sandhu, DSP (Detective) SAS Nagar along with Inspector Shiv Kumar, I/C CIA, Staff, Mohali and Inspector Yogesh Kumar SHO PS Sdr Kharar. This operation was fully supported and co-operated by local councillors, Gurdwara Committee and the villagers.

Total 13 identified drug addicts were counselled and sent to district Drug De-addiction Centre, Sector-66, SAS Nagar.

This concentrated effort of Mohali Police and Health Department has been lauded by family members of addicts and villagers. Such operation will continue in future for the betterment of society and to save it from menace of drugs.
