Jalandhar Rural Police arrest 3 persons in Separate incidents, Seize 400kg Poppy Husk, 200-gm Heroin

The rural police on Wednesday have arrested three persons in separate incidents after seizing 400-kg poppy husk and 200-gm heroin from their possession.

The accused have been identified as Sandeep Kumar (20), Bhajan Lal (42) of Mohan Ke Hithar village in Ferozepur district and Pappu Shah (26) of Muhema in Jalandhar district.

Navjot Mahal arreste smugglersAddressing a press conference, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Mr Navjot Singh Mahal said that CIA staff head inspector Mr Shiv Kumar along with his team was patrolling on Kishangarh to Kartarpur road on June 25 around 8 pm and team spotted a truck (HP-38-F-2852) stationed backside of an abandoned building near Naugajja railway crossing.

Mr Mahal further said that Mr Shiv Kumar stopped his official vehicle and found two occupants who revealed their identities Sandeep Kumar (20), Bhajan Lal (42) of Mohan Ke Hithar village in Ferozepur district.

Then, team called DSP Major Crime Mr Amandeep Singh on the spot and checking of the truck was carried out following which 20 bags of poppy husk which was 400-kg recovered from a special made cabin in the truck.

Both were immediately taken into the custody and a case under section 15 of NDPS Act in Police Station Kartarpur, Mr Mahal told.

Similarly, Mr Mahal added that Sub-Inspector Mr Malkit Singh along with police team was patrolling near Rurka Khurd Bridge Bara Pind road in Goraya. During the checking, the team spotted a man who tried to flee away from the spot but later apprehended by cops who revealed his identity as Pappu Shah. The cops seized 200-gm heroin from a kit bag being carried out by him.

A case under section 21 of NDPS Act has been registered against Shah in Goraya Police Station.
