Ravinder Pal Singh Sandhu, PPS, SP/Headquarters and Sh. Ranjit Singh, PPS, DSP/Investigation a special drive has been launched anti social elements. Shiv Kumar, In-charge CIA Staff alongwith SI Nirmal Singh and police party have done a commendable job by busting a gang specialized in snatching Cars, Trucks, Tippers etc. at gunpoint and arrested its 06 members from whom 02 Trucks, 03 Cars, 02 Pistol 32 Bore, 04 Magazines and 50 live cartridges were recovered.
While addressing the press media, Sh. Navjot Singh Mahal, PPS, Senior Superintendent of Police, Jalandhar (Rural) intimated that on 11-09-2019 at about 05:30, SI Nirmal Singh alongwith police party of the team of Inspr.
Shiv Kumar, In-charge CIA alongwith police party were present at High Tech Naka, Sutlej Bridge, Phillaur.
SI Bakhshish Singh of PS Phillaur alongwith police party also reached at the High Tech Naka, Sutlej Bridge, Phillaur whereupon an information was received that Harpreet Singh @ Happy s/o Swaran Singh r/o Jindawala, PS Harike, district Tarn Taran, Gurpreet Singh @ Gopi s/o Gurvinder Singh r/o Basti Plot Harike, PS Harike, district Tarn Taran, Sajanpreet Singh @ Sajan s/o Baldev Singh r/o Patti Sultan Di Sultanwind, PS Sultanwind, district Amritsar, Vikramjit Singh @ Vicky s/o Avtar Singh r/o Patti Mana Ki Sursingh, PS Bhikiwind, district Tarn Taran, Jagpreet Singh @ Lalla s/o Jagir Singh r/o Patti Malko Ki Sultanwind, district Amritsar and Avkash Singh @ Laddu s/o Baldev Singh r/o House No. 390, Chhota Bazar, Gali Darjiyan Wali Matha, PS Majitha, district Amritsar have made a gang, which is specialized in committing incidents of snatching of Cars, Trucks & Tippers on Highway at gunpoint and further sells the snatched vehicles.
It is also worth mentioning here that Harpreet Singh & Vikramjit Singh escaped from the police custody on 12-06-2019, while they were to the Hon’ble Court at Tarn Taran. It was further informed that presently 01 Truck without numbered, 01 I-20 Car without numbered and 02 Swift Cars bearing registration No. PB-46-U-1318 and PB-65-Y-9738 are in their possession which they are going to sell in Delhi. In this regard case FIR No. 321 dated 11-09-2019 u/s 392/395/379-B/420/468/471/474/411 IPC, 25 Arms Act was registered against them in PS Phillaur.
During checking at about 08:00 PM, one without number Truck came from Goraya side. The driver of the truck was signaled to stop the truck, who revealed his identity as Harpreet Singh @ Happy s/o Swaran Singh r/o Jindawala, PS Harike, district Tarn Taran. On his personal search, 01 countrymade Pistol 32 Bore alongwith 30 live cartridges were recovered from him.
Thereupon, one more truck was seen coming from Goraya side and the same was also signaled to stop and the person driving the truck revealed his identity as Gurpreet Singh @ Gopi s/o Gurvinder Singh r/o Basti Plot Harike, PS Harike, district Tarn Taran.
His personal search led to recovery of 01 countrymade Pistol 32 Bore alongwith 20 live cartridges. 03 cars being driven by their associates were also following the trucks and on seeing the police party, they tried to escape from the spot, but they were very efficiently apprehended by the police party.
The person driving the I-20 Car was identified as Jagpreet Singh @ Lalla s/o Jagir Singh r/o Patti Malko Ki Sultanwind, district Amritsar, driver of Swift Car bearing registration No. PB-65-Y-9738 was identified as Vikramjit Singh @ Vicky s/o Avtar Singh r/o Patti Mana Ki Sursingh, PS Bhikiwind, district Tarn Taran, whereas driver of Swift Car bearing registration No. PB-46-U-1318 was identified as Sajanpreet Singh @ Sajan s/o Baldev Singh r/o Patti Sultan Di Sultanwind, PS Sultanwind, district Amritsar and person sitting on the adjacent seat of driver was identified as Avkash Singh @ Laddu s/o Baldev Singh r/o House No. 390, Chhota Bazar, Gali Darjiyan Wali Matha, PS Majitha, district Amritsar.
All the apprehended persons failed to show any documents of the vehicles.All the persons have been arrested in the case and their police remand of 04 days have been obtained from the Hon’ble Court. A deep probe into the matter is being conducted and more revelations are yet to be expected.
