Jalandhar Police arrests 2 juveniles for using abusive language with women staff on Voter Helpline No. 1950

The Jalandhar Commissionerate Police today arrested two juveniles for continuously harassing the ladies staff deployed on the Voter Helpline number 1950 by using abusive language.

Divulging the details, the Commissioner of Police Mr. Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said that the Commisisonerate Police had got a complaint that the women workforce deployed on Voter Helpline Number 1950 at the District Administrative Complex was being harassed by an unknown caller. He said that the caller was using abusive language for the women staff from an unidentified mobile phone. Mr. Bhullar said that in their complaint the women staff had rued that they were being continuously harassed by the unknown caller time and again from last few days.

The Commissioner of Police said that acting swiftly the Commissionerate Police registered a FIR number 47 under section 294, 509 and 34 of the Indian penal Code at New Baradari Police Station. He said that after thorough investigation the Commissionerate Police has solved the case with the arrest of two juveniles involved in this crime. Mr. Bhullar said that further investigation in the case was still going on.

Pertinently, keeping in view ensuing Lok Sabha polls a toll free Voter Helpline number 1950 was launched by the Election Commission of India for Information, Feedback, Suggestion and Complaint by people. Any person could call on this toll free number from his mobile or land line phone regarding election related queries and complaints. For this purpose a special cell has been constituted at the District Administrative Complex in which staff was regularly receiving the complaints/ suggestion round the clock.
