Jalandhar Police arrest 23 persons for violating Curfew Orders

The Jalandhar Commissionerate Police have arrested 23 persons for violating the orders of Curfew imposed by the district administration to prevent the spread of the Coronavirus.

Divulging the details, the Commissioner of Police Jalandhar Mr Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said that the cases under section 188 and 269 of Indian Penal Code have been registered against Vasu Vashishth of Kot Kishan Chand, Sohan Lal of Ekta Nagar, Nitin Sharma of New Lakshmipura, Sandeep of Ranjeet Enclave, Jatinder Singh of Talwandi Salem, Sonu of Kot Badal Khan, Pawan Kumar of Gandwa, Kulwinder of Abadan, Tahir of Ujala Nagar, Vijay Kumar of Kot Sadiq, Jatinder Kumar of Tej Mohan Nagar, Tarun Kumar of Model House, Amandeep Singh of Gurhe village, Charanjeet Sahota of Chania, Ashish of Bhoor Mandi, Sumit Kumar of Avtar Nagar, Sanjay Kumar of Gawahpur, Bipan of Subhana, Umesh Khurana of Tower Enclave, Vachetan Kumar of Jalandhar cantonment, Pardeep Kumar , Girdhari Lal of Khurla Kingra.

He said that all the accused have been arrested by the Police and further action has been initiated against them.

Mr Bhullar said that the Jalandhar Commissionerate Police have also issued 232 challans and impounded 28 vehicles.

The Commissioner of Police said that the action would continue in coming days till the curfew was not lifted. He said that strict action would be taken against the people flouting the norms during the curfew.

Mr Bhullar reiterated that the curfew has been imposed to check the spread of Corona Virus in the district and it was in the interest of all the stakeholders.

He said that a viable mechanism has been put in place for the entire security arrangements and sectoral officers from Police have been deployed. He said that every effort would be made to maintain law and order in the city.

The Commissioner of Police categorically said that no one would be allowed to violate the law and stern action would be taken against violators.
