Jalandhar MP Chaudhary to seek intervention of Punjab Govt. for expediting projects of 2nd Entry of Railway Station

Member of Parliament (MP) Jalandhar Chaudhary Santokh Singh today said that he would seek an early intervention of Punjab Government to the expedite the starting of ambitious projects of second entry to the City Railway Station and façade improvement.

The Lok Sabha Member on Saturday held a meeting with Northern Railway General Manager Mr. TP Singh, who called on the former here at Railway Rest House. MLA from Jalandhar Central assembly segment Mr. Rajinder Beri, MC Commissioner Mr. Diperva Lakra, Chief Executive Officer of the Smart City Project Mr. Jitendra Jorwal, Chairman of Jalandhar Improvement Trust Mr. Daljeet Singh Ahluwalia and Divisional Railway Manager Ferozepur Mr. Rajesh Kumar Aggarwal were also present during the meeting.

In the meeting, MP held deliberations with the officers on the layout plan including land which would be transferred for developing second entry to the city railway station, facade improvement, soft and hard landscaping, traffic circulation through one-way road, development of Drop-off area and pick-up area, organizing the parking area for private cars and two-wheelers and three-wheelers.

He said that the projects have been fully conceived and would be kicked soon to facilitate the people. He said that as some formalities for the project, including transfer of land belonging to Jalandhar Improvement Trust, has to be completed, so he would call on the Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh to request for early starting of the project.

Later speaking to media, Member of Parliament Chaudhary Santokh Singh said that the Jalandhar Smart City would float the tenders for the façade improvement project of the city to be executed at Rs. 2.77 crores. MP added that projects aim at the development of the Jalandhar Railway Station project through Façade improvement.

He added pedestrian movement would also be segregated through the tabletop crossing and designated pedestrian pathways to ensure pedestrian safety. Chaudhary Santokh Singh said that he would also take up the matter with the central government to expedite the work on these projects to benefit the city residents.

Meanwhile, MP also asked the General Manager to explore the feasibility of running Shatabadi Express from Ludhiana to Sultanpur Lodhi via Nakodar in wake of upcoming 550th parkash purab of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji.
