Jalandhar DC reviews arrangements of state-level Independence Day event after full dress rehearsal

Deputy Commissioner Mr. Varinder Kumar Sharma reviewed arrangements of the state level independence day function at Guru Gobind Singh Stadium (GSSS) where Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh would unfurl tricolour on Thursday.

Interacting with the media persons on the sidelines of the full dress rehearsal for the mega event here today at the local Guru Gobind Singh Stadium, the Deputy Commissioner said that the preparations for this mega event was going on in full swing and every the effort would be made to make sure that the day was celebrated with full patriotic and nationalistic fervour.

Mr Sharma said that dazzling performances dipped in patriotic fervour by students from various educational institutions would be once again the hallmark of the Independence Day celebrations in the city.

Besides, he said that this time, the administration has decided to revive the glorious tradition to present tableaus for highlighting the various important schemes of the state government. He said that this year during the Independence Day Celebrations Tableaus depicting Ayushman Bharat Sarbat Sehat Yojna, Smart Villages, Ghar-Ghar Rozgar, Ghar-Ghar Haryali, DAPO and Buddy campaign, Paani Bachao-Paisa Kamao, Smart City, Padho Punjab; Padhao Punjab, Farmers Welfare and Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao would be presented before the Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh.

The Deputy Commissioner further said that the mega event would be celebrated in the district in an unsurpassed manner. He said that Jalandhar district would once again uphold the glorious tradition of organizing the best function to commemorate this auspicious day.

Mr Sharma said that the cultural events to be presented by the students would showcase the patriotic fervour and rich legacy of state besides focusing on the theme of ‘unity in diversity’, which was the very basis of our country.

Lauding the efforts made by the organizing committee for making stupendous efforts to observe this mega event in a befitting manner, the Deputy Commissioner said that the scintillating performances of the students and the perfect march past led by Assistant Commissioner of Police Mr Gursher Singh, the result of hard work of the officers of district administration along with Lieutenant Colonel (Retd.) Manmohan Singh and others.

He also lauded the strenuous efforts made by this team for roping in the educational institutes of the city to give their best performances to celebrate this event.

Prominent amongst others present on the occasion included Additional Deputy Commissioners Mr. Kulwant Singh and Mr. Jasbir Singh, Smart City CEO Mr Jitendra Jorwal, Deputy Commissioner of Police Mr Parambir Singh Parmar, Additional Deputy Commissioners of Police Mr Sachin Gupta, Mr Gurmail Singh, Sub Divisional Magistrate Mr Paramvir Singh, Mr. Sanjeev Sharma, Assistant Commissioner Ms. Shayari Malhotra, District Mandi Officer Mr. Varinder Khera, District Program Officer Mr Amarjeet Singh Bhullar, District Education Officers Mr Harinder Pal Singh, Deputy District Education Officers Ms. Gurpreet Kaur and Mr. Anil Awasthi besides other.
