The Deputy Commissioner Mr Varinder Kumar Sharma on Friday lauded the contribution of each and every employee and volunteer for strengthening the democracy at the grassroots levels by ensuring peaceful completion of Lok Sabha Elections.
During the felicitating ceremony of the coordinators of PWD voters in Lok Sabha Elections, Mr Sharma said that holding the general elections in a free, fair and impartial manner was a herculean task but due to concerted efforts of the entire employees and volunteers, it was completed peacefully.
Mr. Sharma said this process played a vital role in strengthening the democratic process in the country.
Deputy Commissioner said that there were around 7000 PWD voters across the district. He told that India has the highest population of younger people and they must shoulder responsibility towards the country by actively participating in the voting process.
Deputy Commissioner said that the recent award given by Election Commission of India (ECI) was recognition of the hard work and concerted efforts made by the administration to conduct smooth and hassle-free elections in the district.
Likewise, he also handed over certificates of appreciation to them.
On the occasion, Additional Deputy Commissioner (G) Mr Jasbir Singh, Election Tehsildar Mr Manjeet Singh, Election Kanugo Mr Rakesh Kumar and others were present.
