Jalandhar DC exhorts Pvt Covid Care Hospitals to immediately augment bed capacity by 30 percent

With a view to tackle the any kind of situation arising out of spike in fresh Covid-19 cases, Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Ghanshyam Thori today exhorted all 19 private Covid care hospitals to increase their bed capacity by 30 percent with immediate effect.

Chairing a Covid-19 review meeting at district administrative complex, the deputy commissioner accompanied by ADC (D) Vishesh Sarangal, ADC (G) Jasbir Singh, appointed additional nodal officers to conduct regular visits to these Covid care hospitals so that their beds capacity in Covid-19 facility could be increased well in time.

The deputy commissioner said that with consistent efforts of administration as many as 50 additional beds have been arranged in 10 key covid care hospitals which would take beds availability in these hospitals to 141 from the existing capacity of 91. Sarvodya Hospital added 5 beds, Patel hospital 9, sacred hearts hospital 8, johal hospital 6, Cardionova 2, SGL hospital 12, Caremax Hospital 10, Ghai hospital 2, New Ruby Hospital 5, and Shriman Super Speciality hospital has added 17 beds in its Covid-19 ward.

Aceding to the demands of all private Covid care centres, district administration has assured availability of ventilators and HNFC for free of cost. Mr. Thori said that the administration has already requested health department to provide 30 ventilators and 31 HNFCs according to the demand flagged by the private hospitals.

The demand list includes 1 ventilator for cardionova hospital, 2 for caremax, three ventilator and HFNCs for Ghai, three for innocent hospital, one for Johal, five for kidney hospital, 4 for Mann Medicity, 1 for Ruby, One for NHS, 3 for oxford, five for Patel, 8 for Sacred hearts hospital, two for SGL, two for Sharanjit, 10 for Shriman, 4 for sikka, and one ventilator for the Karan Hospital.

The deputy Commissioner mentioned that the administration has been focusing over the bed capacity in covid care centres both private and government as it has targeted to ensure availability of minimum 750 L2 beds and 350 L3 beds in private hospitals besides 340 beds have been arranged already.

The DC said that the numbers of fresh cases have witnessed a surge in the past few weeks and all of us need to be prepared to tackle this wave efficiently as it was handled during the first wave.

Prominent among others present on the occasion included SDM Gaurav Jain, Jai Inder Singh, Civil Surgeon Dr. Balwant Singh, DDF Souma Sekhar, and DMC Dr. Jyoti.
