Deputy Commissioner Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal on Saturday ordered an enquiry into the death of a female inmate at Gandi Vanita Ashram after she was found collapsed in the washroom Friday night. The officials immediately rushed her to a nearby nursing home, from where she was referred to Civil Hospital Jalandhar. Doctors there declared her brought dead.
Dr. Aggarwal directed the concerned SDM to conduct a thorough probe and submit a detailed report within two weeks. Meanwhile, the girl’s parents were informed by authorities to initiate further formalities. A medical board has been constituted to conduct the postmortem, ensuring all medico-legal procedures are followed.
Forensic experts and police teams have also begun their enquiry to ascertain the cause of death. The district administration has assured a transparent and comprehensive enquiry into the incident.
